Space
Space – also called outer space – is the region beyond the Earth's atmosphere or beyond the Solar System.[1] Ever since the first contact between Earthlings and aliens on July 18 1969[2], humans have been communicating with beings not originating from their own home planet and developing their own means of space travel.
As of 2019 – Galaxy Century 0051 – space has become a very popular tourist destination. Multiple planets, those with the status of a stage station or not, have been working on developing their tourism industry to attract visitors. This idea itself is made easier by the fact that at least some planets seem to be either terraformed or sharing Earth’s gravity coefficient and atmosphere (or a very close approximate). In addition, it appears newcomers can communicate easily with no language barrier (despite there being a distinct “alien alphabet”, separate from “human alphabet”) through undisclosed means. While it is not explicitly stated that there is only one currency used in the entirety of space, mons are widely accepted, and payment methods used on Earth are honoured on other planets too.
Space traffic, while generally allowed, is at least to some extent regulated. There are at least three established highways to travel along which were mentioned: Galaxy Highway, Isekandar Highway and Sunlight Highway. To leave the Earth, one must provide a reason for travel to the Galactic Immigration. Criminals, upon being encountered, are detained and prevented from continuing their travel. There is one known checkpoint (planet Haccone) at which travellers must present their travel permits in order to continue their journey, and at least one known hyperroad which charges official fees for using it.
