Episode Page Style Guide

From Umatani Fan Wiki

So, you want to create or edit an Episode Page on the Wiki. If you're creating a page, make sure that this episode doesn't already have a page. What constitutes as an "episode" on this Wiki?

 1. An episode that was broadcast as part of a season of an anime
 2. An OVA, with a theatrical or direct-to-video release
 3. A movie, with a theatrical or direct-to-video release
 4. Bonus shorts included with a physical release
 5. A drama CD
 6. A manga or official anthology chapter
 7. A novel chapter
 8. A game chapter

To summarize, anything with a plot would use elements from this Episode Page Style Guide.

Broadcast Episodes, OVAs, and Movies[edit]

Broadcast Episodes use the following naming scheme for their page titles:

#.## Episode Title

which looks like this:

1.01 In the Name of Love
2.01 Love, Once More!

An OVA page would use the most specific title available. For example, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! was advertised as having the more specific subtitle Graduation of Love and Youth...

OVA.## OVA Title

This would be formatted as:

OVA.01 Graduation of Love and Youth...

A movie is formatted similarly, using the most specific title available:

Movie.## Movie Title

which looks like this:

Movie.01 Cute High Earth Defense Club ETERNAL LOVE!

All three of these episode page types use the same template, the Episode Page Template:

Infobox[edit]

The Episode Infobox is as follows:

img[edit]

The image of the episode's title card. Specify a width of 200 pixels.

titleKana[edit]

In the titleKana section, paste the episode's title in Japanese.

エピソード・タイトル

If there is a specific format for numbering episode titles in the series, use it instead of having the standalone title.

禁忌其の壱「恋愛」

titleRomaji[edit]

In the titleRomaji section, write the pronunciation of the title in the Roman alphabet. Do not add formatting marks for italics, as it's built into the Infobox's code. As with the Kana section, use the numbering format specific to the series.

Episoodo・Taitoru
Kinki Sono Hitotsu "Renai"

title[edit]

In the title section, write the English title of the episode, as found in the Crunchyroll subtitles, again using the numbering format specific to the series.

Episode Title
Taboo No. 1 "Romance"

epnum[edit]

In the epnum section, write the season and episode numbers, specifying the season. Link this to the series page.

Series Season Number Episode Number

would be:

LOVE! Season One Episode One

aired[edit]

In the aired section, write the original air date in the following format:

Month ##, ####

locations[edit]

Link to locations visited in the episode, in order of appearance, separated with line breaks.

First Location<br>
Second Location

prevep[edit]

Link the page title of the previous episode in the series. If it's the first episode, link to the final episode.

nextep[edit]

Link the page title of the next episode in the series. If it's the final episode, link to the first episode.

Intro[edit]

The Intro section should have an English translation of the text from the series website's episode preview. Link to characters, locations, and concepts when first mentioned.

Synopsis[edit]

The Synopsis is a play-by-play of the episode, written in present tense. Characters and concepts should be linked when first mentioned, unless already linked to in the Info section. It should be subdivided by location, with each broad location being a level three heading, and level four headings for sub-locations.

Location One
Here is what happens in the episode. Imagine this is a paragraph.
Location Two
Specific Location One
Here is what happens in this sub-location.
Specific Location Two
Here is what happens in this other sub-location.

Utilize images as thumbnails next to the paragraph where they appear in the episode, floating either to the left or right of the text. Priority goes to image previews on the official website, with the following naming scheme:

Series Season # Episode # Preview #.jpg

Characters[edit]

In the Characters section, write out a bulleted list of the characters who appear, in order of appearance, linking to each of their pages.

* Character One
* Character Two

Definitions[edit]

In the Definitions section, write out a bulleted list of concepts and items that appear, in order of appearance, linking to each of their pages.

* Item
* Concept
* Vocabulary

Music[edit]

In the Music section, write out a bulleted list time-stamped in single brackets, followed by the name of the track with a short description of the scene it's used in, probably ten words maximum, in parentheses.

* [##:##] Track Name (stuff happens)
* [##:##] Other Track Name (other stuff happens here)

Songs with dedicated pages should be linked to:

* [##:##] Song Name (this is what happens)

Quotes[edit]

In the Quotes section, list any notable quotes. Utilize the Trivia and Quotes Template, one for each quote.

A one-liner should be formatted as:

whereas a short conversation should be formatted as:

Trivia[edit]

In the Trivia section, list any facts or references. Utilize the same template as the Quotes section for each individual piece of trivia. Ensure that references are cited properly. Trivia by itself can utilize the box with no additional formatting.
For trivia about a specific line of dialogue:

Gallery[edit]

In the Gallery section, multiple image thumbnails can be shown in a grid. Check the Images Style Guide for more information on formatting.

Categories[edit]

The Categories section is used for organizing pages on the Wiki so they can be found in specific categories. All episodes should have the Episodes category, followed by the category for episodes specific to that series. Look at the Episodes category page for examples of these existing categories.

Notes[edit]

The Notes section is not a field found in the template. However, it is a section that will appear at the bottom of the page, to ensure all reference footnotes will appear together. To add a reference:

Bonus Shorts[edit]

Bonus shorts would share a page, organized by season:

Series Anime Bonus Shorts

which would look like:

LOVE! Anime Bonus Shorts

Drama CDs[edit]

Drama CDs would again specify that they are drama CDs in their page title:

Drama CD.## Drama CD Title
Drama CD.01 Everyone Has Different Tastes

Manga and Anthology Chapters[edit]

A manga or anthology chapter would specify which it is, the chapter number, and the chapter title.

Manga.## Manga Chapter Name
Anthology.## Anthology Chapter Name

which would look like:

Manga.01 Rulers of the Blue Earth
Anthology.01 Kurotama Bath Renovation Project
